The Kulturpark was built in 1969 in Berlin and used to be the only amusement park in all German Democratic Republic.
It was renamed Spree Park after the reunification of Germany, and significantly expanded. However, in the late 90's the park got into debts and was declared insolvent in 2001.
One year later, the director of the Spreepark company, which runned the park, fled to Peru together with his family and six attractions, in a failed attempt of opening a Lunapark in Lima.
